Estimate your daily calorie burn and a target for your goal, using the Mifflin-St Jeor formula.
BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) is estimated with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the formula most dietitians consider the most accurate for the general population. It's then multiplied by an activity factor to estimate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) — the calories you burn in an average day. Your goal simply adds or subtracts calories from that maintenance number.
This is a starting estimate, not a prescription — actual needs vary by body composition, metabolism, and medical factors. Adjust based on how your weight actually trends over 2-3 weeks.
