About sleep debt

Sleep debt is the cumulative gap between the sleep you got and the sleep your body needed. A night or two of shortfall is normal, but debt built up over a week tends to affect mood, focus, and reaction time even if you don't feel obviously tired. There's no single fix for a large debt — a few nights of extra sleep helps, but chronic short sleep is best addressed by adjusting your schedule rather than trying to "pay it back" all at once.
